Let's Normalize and Prioritize Self-love and Hair Care!

Hey, sis! Lane, here 👋🏽

It’s not a protective style if you’re not protecting what’s underneath!

Can we be REAL for a minute?

Reason #10,099 as to why I launched My Good Protective Sis. Since high school, I’ve always worked two jobs. In college, I double majored (the equivalent of two jobs and then some) and after college, I went right back to working two jobs. This resulted in neglect.

I would neglect my hair, my body, my diet; things that honestly mattered the most to me. Fast forward to my late 20s, I was diagnosed with an endocrine disorder. My hair texture began to change. It became thin and would fall out. Between life and working several jobs, I would go days, sometimes weeks, without washing or moisturizing my hair. When I’d finally prioritized my hair, it would fall out even more - in patches.

Self-neglect is a form of abuse. When you fail to prioritize self-care and self-love you are abusing yourself. This is a sin. Our bodies are temples. We only get one in this lifetime. Men can only go but so long without a haircut or a shape up. But women can mask neglect. We can throw on a wig or slap on false nails.

Meanwhile, our hair is dehydrated underneath and our nails are brittle under a full set. My Good Protective Sis forced me to RESET, to prioritize myself again. Please know when I post tidbits, tips and tricks, I’m giving you applied research that I’ve done for myself.

No more ripping and running to and fro for everybody else and neglecting YOU in the interim. Self-love is the foundation of luxury and it’s time we normalize and prioritize that. 💅🏾
