Letβs talk synthetic wigs!
Our human units are coming super soon but the truth is the global wigs and extension market is estimated to reach revenues of more than $10 billion by 2023, and synthetic hair is a HUGE part of that. Most synthetic wigs are low maintenance and require little to no installation or work. This type of consumer convenience drives sales and we would be remiss not to mention.
Your Good Protective Synthetic Sis can last up to a year or more if properly cared for. So today, letβs review a few tips and tricks that will ensure your unit is happy and healthy. π
- Remove your wig at night. Store her in her natural condition or hang her on a wig stand. This is essential for maintaining the shape and/or curls of your unit and its crucial for preventing tangling. If you must sleep in your wig, then be sure to wrap her in a silk bonnet.
- Always detangle your synthetic unit with care.Β Use a wide-tooth comb for straight or wavy hair and for tighter curl units, just use your fingers. Always start at the ends and move your way up.
- Moisturize your synthetic wigs!Β Add a little luster by using products specifically formulated for synthetic hair. Whether itβs a shine serum or spray, be sure to do so sparingly and never use a product meant for natural or human hair. Some of those products have alcohol in them and alcohol tends to dry out synthetic fibers, causing the wig to eventually look dry and dull.
- Create a washing schedule for your synthetic unit but be careful not to wash too often. Always detangle first and select a moisturizer, shampoo, and/or conditioner specifically formulated for your synthetic unit. Weβve had great success (and saved money) reviving our synthetic units with laundry detergent and fabric softener (remember these are synthetic fibers).
- Avoid tight combs, heating tools (unless otherwise indicated), and products youβd normally use on human or natural hair. We canβt emphasize this one enough. Only apply products specifically made for synthetic hair. This tip alone can extend the shelf life of your Good Protective Sis.
