Wigs provide super versatility when seeking a protective style and the possibilities are endless when deciding between human or synthetic hair. Here are a few tips and tricks to follow when rocking your protective style:
1: Wash and deep condition your hair weekly to keep your hair and scalp clean. You may want to throw an additional co-wash in there depending on the porosity of your hair. (You can easily determine the porosity of your hair using the bowl of water method. Head over to google university). Follow with a leave-in conditioner, conditioning oil, and moisturizing butter or cream.
2: Always keep your hair moisturized. This is one of the primary reasons women experience significant hair loss at the end of their protective style. We love moisturizing creams and we're in the process of curating our very own. In the meantime, a few of our faves are Olive Moisturizing Leave in Créme by Proclaim, Leave-in Hair Créme by Silk Elements, Moisture Miracle Leave-in Cream by African Pride, and TGIN's Daily Moisturizing Butter Cream.
3: Always sleep with a satin bonnet or satin pillow case. This helps retain moisture and protect your hairline.
