5 Styling Tips for Your Good Protective Sis

5 Styling Tips for Your Good Protective Sis

Whether it’s a cut, a curl, or a color, styling is always a vibe 😎

We love researching different products and styling tools that keep our units smelling fresh and looking beautiful.

Here are 5 tips we’d like to share when it comes to your styling unit:

1: Always style your units when they’re completely dry and always be sure to allow drying time after washing. Wet and wavy units will require a gel or mousse so the texture is maintained as it dries.

2: For human hair units, always apply a light leave-in conditioner (to increase moisture levels) and a heat protectant spray (to protect your unit from heat damage). Be sure to use as few products as possible so the hair is not left greasy or heavy.

3: If you are uncomfortable styling on yourself, then use a mannequin or a foam styling head. This way, you’re able to view all angles and easily see all sides of the unit. This is most helpful when styling in the back. You can also use T-pins to secure your unit while styling. You can purchase foam heads for as low as $6.95 and T-pins for as low as $2 on Amazon. Trust us, it’s worth it!

4. When applying styling sprays, start at the back of the unit and then spray forward, keeping the spray 12 inches away from your head and face. Lightly mist the entire unit and then wait a few seconds before applying tools or heat.

5. Always remember to use products sparingly and primarily on areas that you’ve already touched up. Spray build up is real (and yucky) and can damage your Good Protective Sis, thus requiring more handling and washing.

That’s it for now! Be sure to subscribe today for more tips and techniques! 💕
